Gas supplies cut in part of Burnham-On-Sea after pub demolition work

-

Red-faced workmen accidentally cut through a gas main in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea, cutting off supplies to the area, during continuing work to demolish a former pub on Thursday afternoon (June 7th).

The pipe was cut in the grounds of The Crown Inn, Oxford Street, prompting an emergency call-out for Wales and West Utilities, who oversee gas supplies in the town.

“A team was quickly dispatched to the site to repair the gas leak which was caused by third party damage,” spokeswoman Katherine Williams-Davies confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Our team isolated the leak and carried out the necessary repair work. It was treated as a matter of high priority and so there was no need for any evacuation on this occasion,” she added.
