Burnham-On-Sea garden centre raises £1,200 for BBC Children In Need

-

A circus troupe hosted a hula hoop challenge to raise money for the BBC’s Children in Need at Sanders Garden World near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday.

A group of clowns and hula hoopers from Circus Americano – who will be at the garden centre for 28 days from December 5th – invited staff to join them as they took part in the sponsored event.

“It was a fantastically busy day and lots of our customers came along to help support the circus performers and also our staff who took part,” said Sanders Garden World Managing Director Peter Burks.

“Visitors to the centre made donations for Children in Need and we collected £1,200 for the charity. We presented a cheque to the BBC during its live television broadcast from SS Great Britain in Bristol last Friday evening.”

The circus team started the event at 11am and were at the garden centre for two hours as part of a sponsored tag hula hoop challenge.

In the past four years, the garden centre and its staff have raised more than £10,000 for Children in Need via a teddy bear crèche for customers, a sponsored 24-hour treadmill challenge and a tag trampoline bounce event.
