The yearly charge for having garden waste collected from homes in the Burnham-On-Sea area will remain at £40 this year, Sedgemoor District Council has announced.
Gardeners throughout the Burnham and Highbridge area can now register to join the service, which launches in April.
The price has been maintained at the same level as last year, despite inflation. The service costs the council £55 per customer, which it subsidies.
Those signing up will receive 25 collections a year with garden waste being picked up from their homes from April onwards.
Customers have the option of receiving a green wheelie bin for their garden waste or garden waste sacks at a cost of £25 for 10 bags.
“Having your garden waste collected can save time and fuel and can prevent mess in your car,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The scheme encourages residents not only to take pride in their gardens, but also to recycle their garden waste. Every bit of Sedgemoor’s garden waste is turned into Revive soil conditioner or woody bits and is used to help turn the district’s food waste into agriculture fertilizer.”
