Strong winds left a trail of damage in Burnham-On-Sea on Friday (February 14th), keeping the town’s fire service busy.
Gusts of wind of up to 60mph hit the area during the latest in a series of winter storms.
Burnham fire crews were called to the Esso petrol station in Burnham Road shortly after 8pm, when the roof was damaged by the winds.
Strips of panelling were blown onto the forecourt, as pictured, leading to the station being temporarily closed while crews made the site safe.
Elsewhere, several trees blew down onto roads, including one that caused the closure of Burnham Moor Lane for several hours and another in Stoddens Lane.
A large wall was blown over in Brue Crescent, which crews made safe. A fire crew was also called to make several unstable chimney pots safe at a home in Cadwells Lane, West Huntspill. Forecasters are predicting calmer weather in the days to come.
