Fundraising campaign starts for Apex Park dog equipment in memory of dog trainer

-

A fundraising campaign has been launched to buy new dog agility equipment and a memorial plaque in memory of a local man who used to organise dog training sessions at Highbridge’s Apex Park until he died earlier this year.

The late Roy Woodberry’s family and friends have teamed up with The Friends of Apex Park to try and raise at least £3,000.

The money will fund a ‘Bark Park’ with dog agility equipment that would be fixed in Apex Park and free for all to use, alongside a memorial plaque in Roy’s memory.

Roy began training dogs at Apex Park in the 70’s right up to 2017 when he had to give up due to ill health. Unfortunately, Roy died earlier in February this year.

“There is no doubt that Roy helped many local people over the years with socialising and any training their dogs needed,” says orgfaniser Sandra French.

“He was at Apex every Sunday, come rain or shine, and a lot of people – and dogs – benefited from Roy’s help.”

Sedgemoor District Council has said it will assist with costs and the Friends of Apex are also looking at options for grant funding. The full cost is approximately £10,000.
