A Burnham-On-Sea care home manager says she is “overwhelmed and deeply touched” after being presented with a top award this week.
Vicki Mitchell, who joined Somerset Care in 2004, works as Manager at Frith House, a care home in Burnham-On-Sea that provides residential and specialist dementia care and support.
She has been named the winner of this year’s ‘Harry Patch Outstanding Manager Award’.
Alongside her role managing Frith House, Vicki has been part of many working groups and projects, including Somerset Care’s dementia steering group, its care plan group and several activities co-ordinators forums.
As well as supporting her own staff, Vicki also supports other care homes within the Somerset Care group, including care homes on the Isle of Wight.
The Harry Patch Outstanding Manager Award was first presented in 2009, following the passing of the last Tommy who spent his final years at Fletcher House, Somerset Care’s home in Wells.
This award requires nominations from senior management and is awarded to a manager within Somerset Care who has excelled beyond their duties.
Speaking on her achievement, Vicki told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am so overwhelmed and deeply touched to have been presented with the Harry Patch Award.”
“Never have I had my name on a plaque before; I feel incredibly honoured and privileged.”
Julie Cullis, Assistant Director of Residential services, acknowledged Vicki for her award, and added: “Vicki has proved herself to be a dedicated manager who demonstrates high expertise in managing Frith House to the benefit of both the residents and staff.”
“Vicki’s reputation as an excellent manager is well-established within the company. Her depth of understanding and experience, coupled with a compassionate, common sense approach, is a real asset.”
