Sackfuls of litter were collected during The Friends of Burnham-On-Sea Beach’s latest clean-up session on Saturday (November 16th).
28 people attended the successful event, which began at Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club and saw the volunteers scouring the beach of plastic litter – and collecting a wide range of items.
Spokesman Stephen Cooper told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “In total contrast to the last beach clean, the 28 volunteers spent part of Saturday morning bathed in sunshine.”
He added: “The litter that has built up over the past month included a number of syringes, cotton buds, wiring, a buoy and, strangely, a large number of shoes!”
He thanked all the volunteers who had taken part and added that the next beach clean is scheduled for January 11th, 2020.
