A Burnham-On-Sea cafe became the latest victim of the credit crunch when it shut down on Tuesday (December 23rd).
French’s in College Street closed its doors for the final time after Stephen and Claire French said they could no longer afford to keep the business running.
Stephen, pictured right with staff member Tania Pickering, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Trade has progressively tailed off during the last few months and the high costs of running a business like this during an economic downturn were sadly too much for us. It’s been a very difficult decision to take.”
“We unsucessfully tried to sell the business and have now decided to surrender the lease to the landlord.”
“It is very sad that it’s come to this after six years in business. We will miss our customers and thank all those who have supported us over the years.”
