A Burnham-On-Sea woman has been murdered in Egypt, according to a national newspaper.
The Sun has reported that 69 year-old Fran Rossiter died in the city of Hurghada in June.
The paper says she moved to Egypt in 2010 to be with her younger partner. The paper goes on to report that Fran was found strangled.
The Foreign Office, which is providing consular help to her family in Burnham, has confirmed that the Egyptian authorities are investigating her death.
Burnham’s MP Tessa Munt is also providing support to her family and has contacted the Foreign Office to ensure the family gets as much help as possible.
Tessa told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have been contacted by Fran’s family and have been in touch with the Foreign Office to push for as much support as possible during a very distressing time.”
Fran was a former Vice Chairman of the governors and supporter of Burnham’s St Andrew’s School for many years.
