Four King Alfred School students get interviews at one of the world’s best universities

Four exceptional sixth form students from Highbridge’s King Alfred School Academy have been called up for interviews by the Oxford University after they achieved excellent success in its rigorous application process.

Jack Murphy and George Simmons have applied to read Economics and Management while Charlie Valentine and Anya Butler have applied to study Experimental Psychology.

The news comes as a sixth form Open Morning is being held today (Saturday) and amid record numbers receiving generous offers from some of the UK’s top universities.

The sixth form is enjoying record numbers of 110 students starting this year, and with some of the south west‘s best performance statistics.

Other university offers include St Andrews, Glasgow, Durham, York, Sheffield, Warwick, Nottingham, King’s College London, Surrey, Bristol and Exeter.

Head of Sixth Form Jonathan Gaskell said: “This is a brilliant year. On the back of record numbers of students joining, we have the highest number of offers from the UK’s top universities.”

“This highlights the high calibre of students in the sixth form and the hard work and devotion of teaching staff who work to prepare their students for the world’s leading universities.”

TKASA sixth form is part of The Priory Learning Trust and is attracting students from schools in Weston-super-Mare including Priory Community School Academy, Worle Community School Academy, as well as Bridgwater.

Students attending the sixth form receive a bursary for travel as well as a free laptop for their studies.
