A huge piece of Highbridge history was removed early on Sunday morning when the town’s railway station footbridge was removed.
A huge crane was brought in by Network Rail to remove the huge concrete structure, as captured here by photographer Adam Williamson, which has been replaced by a new footbridge.
Aftter being cut from the bridge’s stairwells, the main part of the bridge was hoisted upwards into the sky by the crane
The work was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, finishing at around 2.30am, to avoid causing disruption to travellers
The footbridge was lifted over the tress and then gradually lowered into the car park area
A large flat bed lorry was waiting for the heavy concrete structure
The final farewell! The bridge was lowered onto the lorry and taken away
