Hundreds of young football players headed into the Burnham-On-Sea area at the weekend when Burnbridge Wanderers hosted their fifth annual football festival at the Oaktree Arena.
The event has continued to go from strength to strength with 112 teams taking part from across the South West covering age groups from under 7s-13s.
The club were delighted with the success of the event receiving glowing feedback received from travelling coaches, parents and players.
With the aim of the event being to give younger players the chance to play in a fun and vibrant environment with their friends and team mates, the weather and atmosphere couldn’t have been kinder.
Ben Adams, Burnbridge Wanderers Vice Chairman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “900 medals and 100 trophies were given out over the course of the event with players enjoying the opportunity to celebrate participation and success.”

“The festival feel was perfectly supported by a great selection of referees from the local area who encouraged the players.”
“The club thanks all the teams who entered the event, including travelling teams Fairfield, who returned for a 4th year, and new Welsh teams Penclwadd and Caldicot Castle.”
“We would also like to thank teams from outside of the Woodspring league including those from the Taunton area and Minehead.”
“We would also like to thank local Mayor Bill Hancock for opening the event and presenting medals to the youngest age groups. The club would also like to thank Debbie and Bill for their continued support at the Oaktree arena.”
“Finally, the club would like to thank all the club volunteers who gave up their time to make the event such a huge success, the Burnbridge Parents for providing magnificent cakes over the weekend, and importantly all the players who represented the club perfectly.”
