Burnham-On-Sea football team nets donation from house builder

-

Young footballers at Burnham-On-Sea’s Burnbridge Wanderers FC are celebrating after netting a £250 donation from house builder Taylor Wimpey.

The club’s U18s team, which was set up to give youth players a stepping stone between junior and senior football, received the cash boost to help cover the costs of match balls and pitch rental.

Chairman Paul Grant, says: “The U18s team was only set up last year and grassroots football really needs the support of national companies like Taylor Wimpey, so that we can continue to offer football to children and young adults in a safe and controlled environment.”

“The donation to the U18s will allow us to continue to support the players in their transition from junior footballers to adult players.”

“We have lent our support to Burnbridge Wanderers FC on a number of occasions in the past, having previously provided rain jackets for the young players.”

Paul adds: “Over the years Taylor Wimpey has been very generous in backing our club and we are extremely grateful for this continuing support.”

Founded in 1999, Burnbridge Wanderers FC is an FA Charter Standard Club which is affiliated to the Somerset Football Association. The club currently has over 280 girls and boys across 11 teams ranging from U6s to U18s.

Charlie Joseph, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Bristol, says: “As a local housebuilder we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, so we were delighted to sponsor the U18s team at Burnbridge Wanderers JFC once again.”

“We would like to wish the team the very best of luck for the season ahead and we look forward to hearing how they get on!”
