Burnham-On-Sea is set to host its first food festival this autumn when scores of food and drink producers from across the West country will gather in the town.
Producers of food and drink, restaurants, growers, brewers and farmers will come together for the first Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival on Saturday 29th September.
Organisers Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds, pictured, will be running the event on a not-for-profit basis.
Bev told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have found living in Burnham that we are surrounded by fabulous food producers – farmers, gardeners, delicatessens, cider makers, wine makers, foragers and hunters. This is where we find some of the best of the west and we want to celebrate it.”
“Making the most of fresh, natural, seasonal food means that we can support our high street, cut down our carbon footprint and get back to enjoying food and drink for the right reasons.”
“We have all got to eat – we think that by caring about where our food comes from and how it is produced we can improve our environment and our health at the same time.”
The organisers are inviting food and drink producers within a 25 mile radius of Burnham to get involved in the day-long festival.
Stall holders will be located at Burnham’s Baptist Hall and The Princess Theatre.
Demonstrations and workshops will be held throughout the day while local food businesses will be encouraged to join in with in-store demos, tastings and special menus.
