The team behind the first food and drink festival in Burnham-On-Sea have announced their plans for 2013.
They will be holding two festivals next year – a Spring Festival at the start of the May half term on Saturday 25th May and a Harvest Time Festival on Saturday 28th September.
Beverley Milner Simonds, one of the organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Once again we will be bringing the cream of the surrounding area and the Somerset Levels into Burnham-On-Sea with stalls offering tastings, direct sales, information about food provenance and local supply options.”
As well as stalls, demonstrations will be running, a larger outdoor market and opportunities for visitors to get involved.
Visitors will be welcomed to the new ‘local to Burnham hall’, showcasing products, producers and brewers from the immediate area.
The Festival will also see the return of The Great Burnham Bake Off – this time with new categories and also a new competition, The Great Burnham Brew Off!
Sarah Milner Simonds, one of the organisers, added: “We saw Burnham bustling at this year’s Festival and we want to recreate that buzz for the traders in the town. The Fringe Festival is their opportunity to get involved and we will be out and about encouraging shops, cafes and restaurants to take part.”
“Visitors said they enjoyed traders demonstrating to shoppers what great food, drink and service is available to them within Burnham. This is a key part of our motivation for putting on the festivals and we’d like to have as many traders join in possible.”
Beverley added: “The High Street is full of interesting and vibrant shops and we are offering to help each of them to maximise the Food and Drink Festival for them and for visitors. We look forward to welcoming visitors to next year’s two festivals – at the end of May and the end of September.” Find out more at www.burnhamonseafoodfestival.org.
