A launch party was held for Burnham-On-Sea’s Spring Food Festival last night (Thursday) as the countdown to the tenth event gets underway.
The festival returns to Burnham town centre on Saturday May 27th from 9am-4pm with a record 130 traders.
Food and drink producers from across the region will be displaying and selling their products in the streets and at four indoor venues – and several were at Thursday’s launch party in the Ritz Social Club.
Alongside the stalls will be tractors and farm animals, plus several new attractions this time.
The Ritz Acoustic Stage will be set up in Victoria Street featuring live music throughout the day. Further live music will be available outside Somerset Skills and Learning in Princess Street.
A further new addition will be the debut of Hawksmoor Cookery School offering free cookery classes for families through the day.
There will also be a series of debates and talks about farming and food in the Ritz Social Club’s new Gatsby lounge through the day.
“The excitement is building for the big day,” said co-organiser Bev Milner Simonds. “This festival will be a special milestone for us as it’s our tenth.”
“Our heart is fully in Burnham and we want to put on a lovely show. We couldn’t do it without the terrific support of traders, supporters and businesses in the town plus our wonderful team of stewards.”
We’ll have more details about this year’s festival over the next couple of weeks.
