The final countdown to Burnham-On-Sea’s Food and Drink Festival, to be held on Saturday (May 25th), is underway.
The celebration of food and drink produced in and around Burnham will see local brewers and food producers bringing their best to the town centre.
A large outdoor market will be set-up in Victoria Street, with lots of street food to take away, as well as 60 stallholders.
There will also be plenty of chances to get involved with taster sessions all day at Somerset Skills & Learning in Princess Street, covering foraging for free food, organic dairy farming, sugar craft and the art of cider brandy.
The event, taking place from 10am-5pm, has also been expanded this year to include chefs and experts demonstrating their skills, with healthy eating advice. Top cooks of all ages will perform demonstrations at the ‘KDS Fresh Ideas Demo Stage’ in Burnham Baptist Church in College Street. The Princess Theatre will also be used as an indoor venue, as featured here.
Several competitions will also take place, including the return of the popular Great Burnham Bake-Off baking contest.
Home bakers can enter any of the four competitions as either individual bakers or as families. The best individual entries and family entries in each category will go head to head to win coveted trophies, as featured here.
The search is also on for the best Somerset farmhouse cider as home brewers take part in ‘The Great Burnham Brew Off’ judged by the landlord of the award-winning Crossways Inn in West Huntspill, as featured here.
Festival Organiser Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It promises to be a super festival that will be great for Burnham. We are delighted to have attracted such a diverse range of chefs and experts into Burnham and look forward to seeing lots of people throughout the day.”
