Burnham-On-Sea traders get involved with town’s Food Festival

-

Traders across the town will be getting involved in the first Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival on Saturday 29th September.

The organisers have called the fringe of the festival ‘side orders’ to keep the food theme running in shops and cafes across Burnham.

The festival’s Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are really pleased to have engaged with so many local traders who have come up with inventive ways to be involved.”

And co-organiser Sarah Milner Simonds added: “Although the festival has two central locations, The Baptist Hall and The Princess Theatre, the real heart of the festival is Burnham’s own traders, restaurants and regulars.”

“We want visitors to explore beyond the festival and see our town’s traders, showcasing their businesses. Side orders are proving to be the creative fringe of the festival.”

The traders offering something special on the day will be:

Crusty Cob Bakers: Offering tasters in the shop from 8am to 4pm, including additive and preservative free products and Low GI breads.

Brooks and Son: Tastings in store on Saturday and a discount on Rich’s Cider and Cheddar Ales all weekend.

Esplanade Fish Bar: Promoting south west ingredients in their fish and chips.

KDS Interiors: Demonstrations by a chef in store.

Kyffins Health Food Store: Will have food and wine tastings from 10.30am to 3pm. They will also have a home brew expert on hand for your technical queries. There is also a free gift with every purchase (whilst stocks last).

N-Hance Hair and Beauty: Offer two discounts on their St Tropez and Ultrasun Power Tower 8000. Full details in the programme and festival website.

Seafoods: Offering fish filleting and crab dressing demonstrations throughout the day in their High St store.

Sweet Shack: Offering visitors a rediscovery of the sweets of Burnham’s yesteryears with their retro range.

The Treasure Chest: Award-winning ice creams and fudge on offer with a sea view from their Esplanade premises

Abbott and Frost: Hosting Aqua Forno’s unique concertina BBQ, kettle and oven. Pop by for a demo and maybe pick up a slice of pizza fresh from the oven.

The Aga Cook Shop, Highbridge: Serving Aga-cooked cakes during the day of the festival.

The award-winning Clavelshay Barn Restaurant at North Petherton is offering a special Somerset menu and a range of Good Food Workshops with local producers throughout September and October.

Further details of all these offers and traders can be found on the Festival website here. If you are a trader, cafe or restaurateur who wants to get involved you are advised to contact the organisers very quickly as the programme will be going to print in the next couple of days.
