Masterchef finalist to give cooking demo at Burnham Food Festival

-

A finalist from BBC1’s hit show Masterchef will be among the chefs giving cooking demonstrations at May’s Burnham-On-Sea Food & Drink Festival.

Angela Langford, pictured above, a finalist on the 2014 series, will give a cookery demos at the Spring Food Festival on Saturday 23rd May in Burnham town centre.

Festival Directors Beverley and Sarah Milner Simonds have lined up three talented chefs with very different styles.

First up is local cook Marcus Bawdon, who is also known as CountryWoodSmoke. Marcus will be firing up his coals outside the Baptist Church at 11am. He’s a vegetarian of 14 years turned proud carnivore, who dreamed about the perfect steak, from well reared cattle, dry aged and full flavoured, and cooked over fire to perfection. Marcus was crowned ‘King of Meatopia 2013’ and is an outdoor cooking expert.

Marcus said: “My passion is to try to get people cooking something new when they fire up the BBQ. I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to demo at the Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival, I was born and raised in Burnham and Berrow, there’s some wonderful local produce that is perfect for cooking outdoors.”

Then, at 1pm Bini Ludlow will take to the stage. Bini is the founder of Sweet Cumin, an authentic Indian cookery school nestled in the Somerset countryside. In the South West, she’s a regular contributor to the local food scene, speaking and attending food festivals throughout the UK and is a blogger for the Huffington Post, bylining regular guest columns and appearing on a number of TV food shows.

She said: “I will be cooking up some delicious Indian treats using ingredients from the festival – all will be easy to replicate at home and I hope to introduce some new flavours to the visitors.”

Angela Langford, a finalist on the 2014 series of Masterchef, will also be demonstrating on the festival’s KDS Fresh Ideas Stage at 2pm. Since appearing on the show she now combines her time between her natural skincare business with cooking professionally – including private dining, a pop-up restaurant, teaching at Frogmary Cookery School in Somerset, as well as food writing for various magazines. All of Angela’s recipes and information can be found on her food website at MarsalaRama.com.

All the demos will be offering free samples to taste afterwards.
