Organisers of Burnham-On-Sea’s Folkfest are considering expanding the music festival following the success of this year’s event.
Large crowds flocked to Burnham for the weekend, which began on Friday night (September 4th) with a concert at the Ritz Social Club and ended on Sunday with the Folk In The Park concert in the town’s Manor Gardens.
Dozens of musicians played in pubs across Burnham on Saturday, watched by big audiences.
Now, organisers are drawing up plans to further extend the event.
Folkfest Chairman Graham Cook told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are looking to expand the festival by one or even two nights.”
“However, it is difficult organising acts at seven venues with limited finances and numbers of people. We are are considering expanding it further, though.”
The comments came as organisers celebrated another successful event. Graham said: “It’s been a fantastic weekend.”
“We had good weather and the crowds were just as big as last year.”
“We actually ran out of beer in the Manor Gardens this afternoon!”
“Many pubs and some shops saw an uplift in their trade during the weekend. One chip shop told me they’d had their best day of trade of the whole year so far.”
The event ended on Sunday evening with Dambuskers playing a lively number of hits in front of a large number of dancing revellers in the Manor Gardens.
