£500 raised for Burnham-On-Sea’s Folkfest at cinema fundraiser

-

Hundreds of pounds was raised for Burnham-On-Sea’s Folkfest this week when a successful fundraising event was held in the town’s cinema.

The Ritz Cinema’s owners, Pat and Beryl Scott, provided a screen free-of-charge and a packed house watched the London musical Les Miserables, raising £500 in the process.

FolkFest Chairman Dominic Wills thanked those who supported the event. “We are delighted that more than £500 was raised via donations and raffle.”

“A big thank you goes to Mr Scott for giving us the screen and to those who helped draw in the big crowd – Anne Nicholson, Ken Hindle, Kim Cook, Mary Nicholson and Harry and Caroline Boyce.”

A further fundraising event is to be held at Burnham’s Pier Tavern on 8th April for the event’s Easter Sunday Folkfest Fundraiser. The event as always will run from lunchtime until midnight, with a mixture of local acts and Folkfest favourites from outside the area. Entrance will be just £5.

This year’s FolkFest will run between August 30th and September 2nd.
