The organisers behind Burnham-On-Sea’s annual FolkFest are to hold a fundraising ceilidh and barn dance at the town’s Ritz Club next month.
Leading the revelry will be Banshee (pictured), a three-piece acoustic roots group from the Forest Of Dean who will be playing Irish and English jigs and reels, while calling out the steps to all those wishing to dance along.
Described by organisers as “passionate and exciting,” Banshee includes Tony on bass and calls, Jenny on accordion, bodhran and vocals, and 18-year-old Daisy Smith on the fiddle and flute.
“The group has headlined successful parties all over the west country and in France and are expert at getting the audience dancing and singing,” said Dominic Wills, one of the organisers.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 7th with doors opening at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £5 each and are available from GC Music on 01278-794-434 (no children under 12). All proceeds will go to Burnham-On-Sea’s FolkFest 2007, which is set to be held from August 31st – September 2nd.
