A ‘flower power’ themed party was held by a Burnham-On-Sea group to raise funds for a good cause at the weekend.
Members of Burnham’s Moose International Lodge donned sixties clothing for the club’s annual Governor’s New Year’s Party on Saturday (February 8th).
Over eighty members and guests gathered for the popular event, which raised around £300 for Childrens Hospice South West.
Guests were entertained by Dave Burrow’s disco Utopia Roadshow for most of the evening, with a short cabaret appearance by the talented Mervyn Brown who delivered a short selection of songs and monologues and a finale of Lloyd Webber’s ‘Love is Everything.’
Members of the Lodge’s Ladies’ Circle provided the buffet for the night, which was followed by a raffle.
Moose Governor Brian Mudge said: “It was a most successful evening, and I believe we have raised around £300 for Childrens Hospice South West.”
“Our thanks go to all those who made the evening a success.”
Ladies Circle President Rita Harris added: “Everybody worked extremely hard, and the fancy dress again enhanced the party atmosphere.”
