Floral tributes have been laid on Burnham-On-Sea seafront in memory of a man who sadly died in a motocross bike crash on the town’s beach on Monday (October 4th).
Police issued an appeal for witnesses after emergency services were called to Burnham-On-Sea beach following the incident which also saw another man taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A Police spokesman says: “We’re appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision involving a motocross bike on Burnham-On-Sea beach.”
“Emergency services were called to the scene at about 6.50am. Sadly a male died at the scene. Although formal identification has not been completed, his family have been notified.”
“A second male has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. Anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police should call 101 and give reference number 5221230960.”
Police taped off an area of The Esplanade near the southern end of the beach where the motocross collision occurred.
Several teams from Avon and Somerset Police, the fire service, ambulance, Coastguard and BARB were on scene.
The pavement along part of the seafront on the South Esplanade was taped off by Police and also near the Sailing Club while the investigation was underway and they re-opened in the middle of the afternoon.
An air ambulance also landed nearby and a Police helicopter was also seen hovering overhead.
