These are the incredible scenes of flooding across Somerset this week that a Burnham-On-Sea microlight enthusiast has captured on film.
Jeff Thomas got a ‘birds-eye view’ of the widespread flooding when he flew in his microlight from Westonzoyland over Burrowbridge, Glastonbury and Middlezoy.
Jeff told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Most of the photos were taken at an altitude between 1500 and 3000 feet with the cockpit window open to avoid reflections, which is very cold!”
“All the moors are under water with many local roads cut off. It is also possible to see numerous isolated homes standing on small outcrops of high ground safe for the moment.”
“Many fields are still filled with those very large circular bails of hay wrapped in plastic which the farmers presumably had insufficient time to remove before the water levels rose, and rivers like the Parret and Tone have virtually disappeared from sight where they cross the flooded moors.”

Jeff found the community of East Ling was almost surrounded by water
Fields around Glastonbury looked more like Indian rice paddy fields
