Plan for 11 new flats in Burnham-On-Sea rejected by district council
Proposals to convert a residential care home in Burnham-On-Sea into 11 self-contained flats has been turned by council planners this week.
Sedgemoor District Council’s Development Control Committee rejected a request for full planning permission to convert 139 Berrow Road, Newton Lodge Residential Home.
The application covered the “change of use, conversion and extension of an elderly persons residence to 11 self-contained flats and formation of parking.”
But councillors turned down the scheme, saying there had been no progress made in the completion of a so-called ‘S106 agreement’ contribution.
A spokesman explained: “In the absence of a legal agreement to secure the required affordable housing contribution, the application is contrary to several policies of the adopted Sedgemoor Core Strategy.”
