A controversial application to double the size of a Berrow holiday park has been turned down.
Twenty letters of objection were sent by from anxious homeowners to Sedgemoor’s Development and Control Committee claiming that the plans for new two-storey chalets at Sandy Glade Holiday Park (pictured) would mean a loss of privacy for themselves.
Local residents also claimed the plans would create traffic congestion, noise pollution and that the high buildings would be out of character to the surrounding area.
Planners rejected the application, arguing it would “harm the residential amenity of the occupiers of neighbouring dwellings by reason of overlooking and loss of privacy.”
They also said the proposal is contrary to the Sedgemoor District Local Plan. The applicant, John Fowler Holidays, may appeal against the decision.
