New food businesses in Burnham have five star appeal!

-

Two food businesses in Burnham-On-Sea are celebrating after being awarded a maximum five stars for their food hygiene practices.

The Newquay Pasty Company in the High Street and Truly Scrumptious in College Street have been praised in the latest survey by the district council’s Food Safety Team.

Under the ‘Somerset Food Scores’ scheme, every food premises in the district gets inspected on a regular basis and the two new Burnham businesses, which only opened earlier this year, have got full marks.

Jeff Welsh of the Newquay Pasty Company told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our shop’s managers and the team have been working very hard behind the scenes and fully deserve this recognition.”

And Scott Pring of Truly Scrumptious added: “We’re delighted to have got five stars – it’s a great reward for all the hard work.”

‘Somerset Food Scores’ is not a competition, nor an award scheme, but a system that allows customers to see how their school, hospital, favourite sandwich bar or restaurant complies with food hygiene regulations.
