Staff at a Burnham-On-Sea fishmonger’s shop are waiting with baited breath to see if they will be bring home the catch at the annual Somerset Life Food and Drink Awards.
Seafoods in the High Street was named best independent shop in Somerset in 2012 and was also the runner-up in 2013.
Fishmongers for nearly 40 years, the shop’s owners Steve and Gaynor Wright are attending the awards ceremony for the third year in the row.
Steve told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are proud of our sustainable procurement, product knowledge and commitment to training and development of our staff. Getting recognition from Somerset Life magazine means a lot to our team.”
“Like a lot of retailers we have found the trading conditions on the High Street a struggle in recent years but we have diversified including a selection of sauces, pickles and when in season, game.”
Steve and Gaynor will find out if the will be bringing the coveted prize back to Burnham during the ceremony today (Wednesday) which is being held at Junction 24.
