An appeal has been issued to businesses in Burnham-On-Sea to contribute towards the £10,000 cost of holding the town’s annual seafront fireworks display.
The display is set to be held on Sunday November 5th at 6.30pm on the seafront, the night before the 2017 Burnham-On-Sea Carnival.
The Town Council Clerk Tatiana Cant has written to businesses appealing for donations.
“The cost of the event will be approximately £10,000 to include road marshalls, road closures, first aid and PA services,” she says.
“This event acts a curtain raiser for the Guy Fawkes Carnival the following day and attracts many people to the town for the weekend.”
“For this reason, I very much hope that businesses will feel able to help us to continue with this much enjoyed and appreciated display by making a contribution towards the cost.”
“Any such financial support will of course be acknowkedged in our advertising material for he event.”
The display is overseen by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council with support from local businesses. The display will be fired by Skyburst.
This year’s display will be a ‘family-friendly’ fireworks display, starting at 6.30pm, as we first reported here earlier this year.
Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade has given its backing to the council by writing to its members, encouraging them to support the event. Any firms that can help with funding the event should contact the council on 01278 788088.
