Thousands of people lined Burnham’s seafront last night (Sunday) for a spectacular display of fireworks.
Large numbers of families crowded The Esplanade to watch the colourful 20-minute display, which was fired from the town’s jetty.
Over 4,000 sparkling shots soared into the air above the beach, accompanied by a programme of modern music.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Martin Cox told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a stunning display and it was wonderful to see such large crowds come out to enjoy it.”
This year’s fireworks, overseen by Skyburst Illuminations, were funded by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council with support from local businesses including Highbridge Caravans, Positive Wealth Creation, Retreat Caravan Park, Newcombe Caravan Park and Burnham’s Co-Op Funeral Services.
The display was organised by the Town Council in the run-up to Monday’s Burnham-On-Sea Carnival. A visiting band from Holland also entertained the crowds along the seafront before the display started, adding to the fun atmosphere. Donations were collected for charity by Burnham’s Rotary Club.
