Huge fireworks display planned for Burnham-On-Sea seafront this Sunday

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s carnival festivities will get underway on Sunday night (November 5th) with a huge seafront fireworks display.

Starting at 7.00pm, the display will be unique this year as it will be operated from a platform on the seafront and, with a high tide at firing time, onlookers are promised a spectacular display.

“Not only will the night sky be ablaze with colour and effects, but all the aerial wizardry will be reflected in the sea to effectively double the glittering spectacle,” said organiser Linda Krause Davies from Sedgemoor District Council.

“The musical track will be an eclectic mix of film music, classical and pop, with each track carefully selected to show off a particular series of aerial effects.”

“As the display progresses, spectators can expect to see an ever growing barrage of colour and noise. A lively and atmospheric soundtrack will be reflected in a series of memorable and sparkling images.”

“The entire spectacle, which will operate from ground level to over six hundred feet, will be controlled by one of the most advanced electrical firing systems in Britain today, ensuring precise and accurate timing.”

The display will be run by Bristol-based Skyburst, who are also going to fire specially constructed fireworks that spin and explode from the sea itself.

The display will feature a stunning finale when multiple shells will rise and break up in a spectacular, sky-filling blaze of red and silver.

The event is being sponsored by Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council and Sedgemoor District Council. It is a free display with a collection for local charities.

The jetty will be closed all day to allow for the set up and there will be a temporary road closure in place between the Tourist Information Centre on The Esplanade and Adam Street and also for Pier Street from 6.45 – 7.45pm.

Later on during the evening at 8pm, the Burnham and Highbridge Band will be playing at The Princess. Then on Monday (November 6th) the annual Burnham Carnival will get underway at 7.30pm.

Burnham-On-Sea.com will have live coverage of the fireworks display on its seafront webcam during Sunday evening.
