Big crowds expected at Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront fireworks

-

Big crowds of spectators are expected to line Burnham’s seafront tonight (Sunday, November 7th) to watch the town’s annual fireworks display.

Hundreds of spectacular fireworks will be fired from a temporary scaffolding platform which has been built on the town’s jetty and which will be surrounded by sea water.

The 20-minute display starts at 7pm and will include several brand new fireworks never before seen in Burnham. Organisers confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com this afternoon that tonight’s event will be going ahead as scheduled.

Lee Harvey, from Skyburst, the company that is running the event on behalf of the Town Council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the display promises to be “breathtaking”.

He added that a programme of classical, pop and film music will accompany the dazzling show.

The event will be free of charge, but Burnham Rotary Club will be collecting donations during the evening for local charities.

The display is being funded by the Town Council with the support of several local businesses, including Central Radio Services, Laburnum House, Highbridge Caravans, Beachside Holiday Park, Retreat Caravan Park, Unity Farm and Newcombe Caravan Park.

The hugely popular free event, which is often attended by thousands of spectators, is being held on the night before Burnham’s annual carnival.

After the fireworks, The Railway Inn in Burnham High Street will be holding a fundraising concert at 9.30pm where local group The Riverbrew will be playing to raise money for Help For Heroes.

Landlord Danny Pearce told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We hope to raise a good sum for the charity whilst keeping the fireworks fun continuing into the evening.”
