Fireworks platform in place on Burnham jetty ahead of Sunday’s show

-

A scaffolding platform has been built on Burnham-On-Sea’s jetty to enable thousands of fireworks to be launched during a spectacular display on Sunday evening (November 8th).

The event will start at 6.30pm, and the platform is in place to allow the fireworks to be launched soon after high tide.

The 20-minute fireworks display will be accompanied by a line-up of hit music from the past few decades.

Organiser Alan Christie from Skyburst Illuninations told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s going to be a special display this year – we have several new fireworks not seen in Burnham before, including carpet shells that will be fired horizontally over the sea.”

“With the tide in, some of the fireworks will be reflected on the water which will add to the overall effect. It will be a cracker of a display.”

He said: “The theme of the display will be a journey through jukebox history from the 1940s onwards – with memorable rock, swing and dance tracks including classics from Grease, the Blues Brothers, the Beatles, and many more.”

The event, overseen by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, will be free of charge thanks to local sponsorship, however spectators will be encouraged to give donations to the charity collectors along the seafront.

This year’s sponsors include Home Farm Holiday Park, Positive Wealth Creation, Retreat Caravan Park, Highbridge Caravans, Co-Op Funeral Care, PJ Harris Funeral Services and Skyburst Illuminations.
