Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club has thanked the spectators at last Sunday’s rain-soaked seafront fireworks for donating almost £1,300.
The club oversees the collection at the annual event, which went ahead despite torrential rain, as we featured here.
Organiser Ashley Edwards told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The sum of £1,298 was collected, despite the rain and reduced number of spectators.”
“This amount, less £90 expenses, will be shared as usual on a 60/40 basis between the Rotary Club and Burnham on Sea and Highbridge Town Council, to support their respective local charities.”
He added: “We are most grateful to all our collectors, especially the army cadets, who assisted us on the very damp evening.”
The club is the official collector and has a Sedgemoor District Council Street Collection Permit.
