Burnham-On-Sea fire crews were called to help fight a major property fire in Wellington, near Taunton, on Sunday morning (December 28th).
Ten fire crews from Wellington, Taunton, Wiveliscombe, Bridgwater, Cullumpton and Tiverton were called to the Cornhill in Wellington shortly before 1am.
The fire service had received several calls from members of the public reporting the blaze in a number of derelict two and three storey houses, measuring approximately 30m by 10m.
By 7am, the incident had been scaled down and four pumping appliances from Nether Stowey, Burnham-On-Sea, Bampton and Minehead were in attendance.
“The fire was surrounded and a hydraulic platform from Exeter was in use, damping down hotspots along with a further hose reel damping down,” said a fire brigade spokesman.
