Burnham-On-Sea fire crews tackle early morning blaze at Puriton

-

Burnham-On-Sea fire crews helped to tackle a big farm blaze at Puriton in the early hours of Sunday morning (March 16th).

Three fire crews from Burnham and Bridgwater, plus the command support unit from Street, rushed to Down End Farm in the village at 5.02am.

“The crews used one hose reel jet and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire on the second floor,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The cause was believed to be deliberate, and damage was sustained to the floor 20 per cent by heat and fire, 40 per cent by smoke and 10 per cent by cutting away.”

Crews also used positive pressure ventilation equipment to ventilate the property, and thermal imaging camera to identify hotspots. Police and paramedics were also at the scene.

On Saturday (March 15th) Burnham-On-Sea fire crews joined eight others from across the county in extinguishing a fire at a pub in Stoke St Gregory, near Taunton. The Rose and Crown was 70% damaged by fire.
