Burnham-On-Sea fire crews have issued a warning to children about the dangers of playing with fire after they tackled a blaze at a play area in the town on Wednesday afternoon (October 28th).
One fire engine was sent to the Winchester Road play area at 3pm, as pictured, where a quantity of rubbish had been deliberately set alight.
The blaze was quickly extinguished, but the fire crew issued a warning aimed at youngsters during this week’s half-term holiday.
Fire Station Officer Ian Hazelton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Playing with fire is very dangerous and a small fire like this could easily spread quickly and injure someone. While there was little damage on this occasion, fires can also be very destructive.”
