Fire crews rescue family of four trapped in Highbridge house blaze

-

A family of four was rescued by firefighters after being trapped in their Highbridge home by a big blaze on Wednesday night (November 29th).

Fire crews from Burnham and Taunton rushed to Morland Road at 8.45pm after two adults and two children became trapped upstairs in a childrens bedroom by smoke and flames.

Fire crews erected a ladder to the second floor window and the family was safely led down from the property down the stairwell.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This was believed to be a kitchen fire caused by a chip pan.”

The crew reported that the blaze had caused 50 per cent fire damage to the property’s kitchen and 15% smoke damage to the remainder of the property.

“The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets, and the property was ventilated using a ventilation fan.”

Paramedics treated the occupants at the scene.
