These were the scenes in Highbridge on Friday when Burnham-On-Sea firefighters were called to tackle a kitchen blaze at a block of flats.
Two fire crews were sent to General Higgins House in Southwell Crescent at 11.16am after a concerned resident raised the alarm.
The building was evacuated before crews arrived, as pictured here.
“Crews found a cooker on fire and, after confirming that there was no-one still inside the building, extinguished the fire using hose reel jets and breathing apparatus,” fire spokesman Paul Slaven from Devon & Somerset Fire Service told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to remove smoke inside the property. There was some smoke damage to the flat and damage to the cooker.”
