The owners of a Highbridge caravans business that suffered a major £2million blaze have formally thanked Burnham-On-Sea’s firefighters this week for preventing the fire from spreading further.
Philip Davies, director at Highbridge Caravans, visited the fire station with his brother Jonathan Davies and mother Alex Davies last night (Wednesday) to personally thank the crews with a donation to a firefighters charity.
The fire crews spent several hours in October battling the huge overnight blaze at Highbridge Caravans, which destroyed and damaged 161 caravans at a final cost of £2million.
The fellow directors this week presented a £500 donation to The Firefighters Charity, which helps injured firefighters across the country, and also handed the Burnham-On-Sea crew supplies for their upcoming family Christmas party.
“We are so grateful for the crews’ efforts that night in stopping the fire from spreading further and causing much more damage,” he said.
“The firefighters here in Burnham do a fabulous job all year round, including over the Christmas period, and this is a token of our appreciation.”
He added that Highbridge Caravans has replaced the damaged stock and is fully operational and open.
Local firm JD Pope have also been thanked for their work on resurfacing the damaged area and restoring it to use.

The blaze destroyed and damaged 161 caravans at a final cost of £2million, which was covered by insurance. The exact cause is still unknown.
