Burnham-On-Sea fire crews had one of their busiest ever days on Wednesday when they responded to scores of calls for help from flooded residents.
The main road through Brent Knoll, Brent Street, was temporarily closed by police, as pictured here, to allow fire crews to pump out flood water.
Burnham fire station officer Ian Hazleton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had an incredibly busy day with incidents in the morning involving flooded properties in East Brent and Brent Knoll after the heavy overnight rain.”
“The water was up to eight inches deep in several areas and we helped by pumping out the flood water where it was possible.”
He added: “One engine from Burnham was also called away from the area to Otterhampton to support the crews there tackling flooding.”
“It was one of our busiest ever days after a large amount of rainfall in a short period. With more wet weather in the forecast for our area, we could well have a busy week.”
