Collection tins were rattling when Burnham-On-Sea firefighters raised more than a thousand pounds for the Fire Services Benevolent Fund this week.
Generous High Street shoppers dug deep into their pockets and purses to raise a bumper sum of £1,375 in just one day.
Burnham Fire Station Manager Ian Hazelton told Burnham-On-Sea.com the crew were overwhelmed with the support they received. “Many thanks to everyone who supported this collection – we’re delighted with the amount raised,” he said.
The Fire Services Benevolent Fund provides assistance to serving and retired personnel, their widowers and young dependents, through the provision of sheltered accommodation, recuperative facilities, rehabilitation and therapy, in addition to financial support.
