Burnham-On-Sea fire crews saw a busy day on Tuesday (January 26th) dealing two incidents – a car fire and a kitchen blaze.
Two Burnham engines were called to the forecourt of Buncombes garage in Highbridge at around 8.30am after a Volkswagen was reported to be alight.
A passing off-duty fire officer controlled the blaze until the arrival of the fire service, who used a hose reel jet to extinguish it. The damage was restricted to the engine compartment.
The Burnham-On-Sea crews were back in action at around 1.45pm when they were called to a home in Rosewood Avenue where some cooking was alight in a kitchen, leaving the property smoke-logged.
Crews used ventilation equipment to help make the property safe again. An occupant was checked over by ambulance crews.
