A piece of burning toast caused a small kitchen fire that led to Burnham-On-Sea fire brigade being called out on Friday morning (October 10th).
One Burnham fire engine was sent to Highridge Road at 7.38am after a home owner dialling 999 to alert the brigade.
“Our control centre received a call from a resident, who told us she had left her toast unattended and it had caught fire,” said a spokesman.
“Although the fire was out, her alarms were operating and she has slight smoke in the kitchen. One fire engine from Burnham was mobilised to investigate.”
“On arrival, the crews confirmed that there had been a fire under the grill, inside the oven. The fire was out, but had caused heat and smoke damage.”
