Firefighters from Burnham-On-Sea extinguished a hedge blaze caused by an out-of-control barbecue on Wednesday evening (August 4th).
One fire engine was called to Red Road in Brean at 7.45pm after sparks from a camper’s barbecue set a hedge alight. Fire crews used one hose reel jet, as pictured here, to bring the fire under control, which destroyed approximately five metres of hedgerow.
In a separate incident earlier in the day, Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater fire crews rescued a sheep trapped in mud on the banks of the Huntspill river in West Huntspill. Crews used animal rescue equipment, mud paths and drysuits to extricate the stranded animal.
