Two people were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation after a fire at a home in Burnham-On-Sea on Monday.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze in a bungalow in Balmoral Drive at 10.40am.
The alarm was raised by concerned residents after a fire broke out in a bedroom.
A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Crews found a fire within a ground floor bedroom in a bungalow which they set to work extinguishing with a hose reel and breathing apparatus.”
“An ambulance was also requested and two occupants were treated for smoke inhalation.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire resulted in moderate damage to the bed and bookcase.
There was also smoke damage to the bedroom and three other rooms in the bungalow. The smoke detectors which were fitted in the property did not activate.
