Firefighters investigate ‘ammonia leak’ at Isleport Business Park

More than 30 firefighters from across Somerset rushed to the Isleport Business Park in Highbridge on Saturday afternoon, October 15th, amid fears that an ammonia leak was underway.

Several alarms at the Brake Bros factory had been activated and staff requested the attendance of the Fire Service.

Four fire engines from Burnham, Bridgwater and Taunton attended, along with specialist appliances from Taunton, Street and Bridgwater.

The crews evacuated the building and engineers were called to assist. Four gas-tight suit wearers entered the building, but no trace of ammonia was found.

Shortly afterwards, at 6.25pm, the crews learned that a power surge had set off the alarm system and there was no leak.
