Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to a two-car accident on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday.
Two vehicles collided in a crash on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between junction 22 at Burnham and junction 21 at Weston at around 10am.
Two fire crews from Burnham were called to the scene, along with a pump from Bridgwater and a Command Support Unit from Street after the vehicles burst into flames.
An Avon and Somerset Fire spokeswoman said a casualty had been removed from the wreckage on a spinal board and taken to Weston General Hospital.
