Young people aged between 13 and 19 in Highbridge will able to try out film-making and animation-making during a series of free one-day workshops next month.
Two ‘Make A Film in A Day’ and ‘Animation for Beginners’ workshops will be held at the Morland Community Centre in Pearce Drive, Highbridge.
The sessions are being organised by the Young People’s Film Council and Bridgwater’s Engine Room. ‘Make a Film in A Day’ will take youngsters through all the stages of film-making, from how to generate suitable ideas for short films, to camera and sound techniques.
“A quick dip into post-production will transform all the exciting work of the day into a film that the can be proud to show friends and family. Led by film maker James Dean, the one-day workshops take place on Monday 18th February 10am – 4pm and Wednesday 20th February 10am – 4pm,” The Engine Room’s Deborah Richardson told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“BAFTA winning animators Tom Stubbs and Joff Winterhart will lead ‘Animation for Beginners’ and guide the youngsters through a variety of techniques, from flickbooks to stop motion claymation. The one-day workshops will take place on Thursday 21st February 10am – 4pm and Friday 22nd February 10am – 4pm.”

The workshops are being run as part of the Big Media Project, which is funded by Mediabox, a £6 million scheme launched by the Department for Children, Schools and Families to help young people have a positive voice in the media.
